“I was wrong, and so was the Supreme Court," said Joyce Zounis, who had seven
abortions, beginning at age 15.
“It is a sad day as America reflects on the tragic loss of 50 million lives lost to
abortion,” said Caron Strong, who heads the Women’s Council on Abortion for the
Trinity Legal Center.
“There is much untold grief and heartache in the lives of the mothers, fathers, and
siblings who have lost these children to abortion. We will never know the wonderful
impact these precious lives may have had. May God forgive us,” said Caron who lost
four children to abortion.
Joyce and Caron know well the pain and regret of abortion. Like many women
following an abortion, they plunged into a destructive cycle, experiencing shame,
fear, guilt, grief, nightmares, depression, and desperation.
“I grieve for my children lost to abortion, and I grieve for the lost heritage of their
children,” said Joyce, who is featured in a video, “I Was Wrong,” a compelling film
portraying the tragic choice of abortion and the transformation beyond the
devastation of abortion.
“It’s time for change,” said Caron and Joyce. Both are looking to the day when
women and babies are protected from the harm of abortion. They point to the price
women pay when they choose abortion: grief, fear, shame, physical and emotional
problems, broken relationships and marriages, and destructive behaviors.
The Trinity Legal Center also represents Sandra Cano, who was “Mary Doe” in
Doe v.
Bolton
, the companion case to Roe v. Wade that brought abortion on demand to
America through the ninth month of pregnancy. “I will never give up fighting for the
rights of children,” said Sandra. “Life is worth fighting for, and the joy from that
special life we save is worth it all,” said Sandra who never had and never wanted an
abortion and wants to see her case reversed.
Caron, Joyce, and many other women who have experienced abortion are working
to change how America views abortion, even though it often causes them to relive
the pain of their own abortions. They share how abortion devastated them in hopes
of sparing other women from the pain and regret of abortion and to offer hope to
those hurting from abortion. They believe it’s time for America to hear the voices of
abortion.
